A simple question here. Has anyone eaten at Sale & Pepe in Simpson Bay? Just looking for opinions about it.

We ate there in November and again last week. We love it! Personally, I think it's far better than IZI. But that's just our personal opinion. If you are thinking about going, I would call for reservations. When we were there last week, the place was packed!

Most people seem to love it. I had a chicken parm and I didn't care for it. The folks I was with both had some type of a seafood pasta and they loved it. Your mileage may vary. Versus Izi? Who knows, I don't care that much for Izi either. Really loved La Gondola..

Ate there last week and I would go back. I prefer Izi but they are rather different so I am not sure if it is a good comparison. Reservations were required, as they pretty much are at Izi.
They were busy so they must be doing something right. They do get a lot or promotion on facebook so that could be part of it also.

We ate there once last Nov/Dec, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals; so much so that we planned on returning, but never did, as so often happens. Our service was excellent, the food was as well, and the wines were top notch. We dined outdoors, towards the center of the exterior wall of the building, which proved to be smart when a rain squall hit during our dinner. We'll definitely go back. I think you and Judi would love it.

I posted last week about Sale & Pepe. To recap their food is ok but I, had a problem with the wait staff. IZI has a cold atmosphere, but Luna Rosa is the best. It's across from Topper.

I agree whole heartedly with Joe Cool. Luna Rossa is a phenomenal restaurant with wonderful meals and great service. 20 years of Thanksgiving on the island and the best traditional Thanksgiving dinner was prepared at Luna Rossa. What a great job done by someone who had never prepared an American Thanksgiving dinner before.

I have to agree - we thoroughly enjoy Luna Rossa - thank you very much, Sharon Harris for introducing us to it - but I had no idea they had been around that long and for some reason I thought they were only 5-6 years old. Guess we need to get out and around more and/or pay closer attention!!
Respectfully,

We loved Sale & Pepe. We went there twice on our last visit.
We usually try to go to Izi too, which we enjoy very much!
Not too crazy about Luna Rossa, but it might have been an off night. I ordered one of my favorite pastas and it really didn't have much flavor. We were one of two tables there.
Just our opinion......... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Luna Rossa has only been open for 3 years or so. A new owner after the first year.

Luna Rosa is much more expensive than Izi or Sale & Pepe.

I want to thank everyone for their quick reply to my question. It got overwhelmingly positive reviews here. We will definitely visit there when we are next on the island which as many of you can guess will be during week 50 and 51.

Hi Pat,
I didn't mean to confuse you or mislead you. I meant, in the 20 years of Thanksgiving day meals that we have eaten on the island, at all the many restaurants, it was at Luna Rossa that they got it right so that it tasted home made and country.
This meal was eaten on the most recent US Thanksgiving Day, 2016

Both Luna Rossa Ana IZI's menus are available online for comparison and on items that compare the pricing is similar. There are items on Luna Rossa's menu that are more expensive without a comparable offering from IZI. Luna Rossa is good dining and good service at a reasonable cost. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but that are many other eateries out there for those that are looking for something different.

It doesn't take too much to confuse me.... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> With regard to Luna Rossa, we were fortunate to dine there our first visit with an island friend and have been back several times since that first experience and each time has been lovely. Their pastas and sauces as well as the focaccia are all home made in house and they even offer a gluten free pasta. We've never been disappointed and look forward to returning on our next trip. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />
